ANABLEPO is greek for 'Regain Sight' or 'Look Up.' The Mission for anablepo design is just that - 'to regain sight.' We believe that a properly designed website or graphic can speak volumes about you or your organization. High quality, functional and good looking design will ensure that visitors won't only enjoy their experience, but they'll want to come back.

There are a number of 'clever mantras' that we keep in mind when designing sites - and we figure it's best if you know them.

Less is more.

There's no avoiding them. Everyone has been to those webpage that are so riddled with links, articles, advertisements and affiliate logos that a person can't even find the navigation. Simple, well-planned layout is not only more navigable, but there's more potential for growth.

Design elements, application elements, and Graphics that are well-planned out will resemble a spacious house, where everything is there and it's easy to get to. The extra bits of clutter (i.e. roller skates or 'ads') are kept to a minimum, and the user's experience is pleasant, and they'll be coming back. (Sorry about the feeble house metaphor.)

Good, REAL designs catch more fish.

All puns aside, we don't think design is something that is done on the screen. Let's face it, computers are to art what synthesizers are to music - and that's why each site that we develop goes through at least a couple design stages on paper.

Anyone who occasionally grazes the internet knows that there are fads and fashions when it comes to design - some of them good, others bad... but if your site is 'sporting a pair of bell-bottoms,' (even though they're in again) users will be inclined to think that it's been that much longer since your site has been updated. We're not saying any design is timeless, but we are saying that if you choose anablepo, you'll be happy with function-following form that will still look good years from now.

It's worth checking out the 3rd party's party.

Occasionally, anablepo elects to enlist the services of 3rd party web applications. We admit it. Some purist web designers would consider this cheating, but we think it's efficiency. Fact of the matter is, 3rd party applications like guestbooks, news managers and the like are highly-developed, and often the publisher offers updates and support. That way, you, the owner, aren't paying someone a high hourly rate to develop an application that's sub-par to something that's already out there. It's common sense.

Does this mean that every dynamic application that anablepo designs is 3rd party? Certainly not. In fact, often elements ARE designed specifically a clients needs - ensuring a better fit and 'applicable applications'

It's your site, not ours.

Anablepo designs and implements sites. You design the content. Anablepo has always offered free consultation, but fact of the matter is, it's your site, and you should be able to design what goes on it. We listen to you, and your website is what you want - not what anablepo wants.

The question arises - 'Who's going to update my new site?' You have a couple of options. Most of the sites that anablepo designs are made for you to easily update your content with no help from us*, either with a desktop program or via the included secure site control panel. This does not mean that we won't help though. Each anablepo contract comes with support - and we'll always help you with whatever questions you have. No extra cost. If you prefer, however, to have us update your website or write content, we'd be happy to for a small fee. We've got you covered.

Cross Platform

One great thing about the internet is that it's largely cross-platform, but often web designers aren't. Anablepo will design for nearly any web server environment, but perhaps more importantly any client platform. Whether you use Microsoft Windows or Apple Macintosh, anablepo's here for you. No need to worry about clients not seeing your site properly. It just works.
